Valley Center Community TheatreNow that the Valley Center High School’s Maxine Theater is up and running, a group of local residents decided in February of 2006 to organize to use the state-of-the-art facility for putting on locally-produced plays. The name of the new group is Valley Center Community Theatre and they decided to throw caution to the winds and, for their fi rst production, to put on The Sound of Music. The production was scheduled for July of 2006. The mission of Valley Center Community Theatre is to provide opportunities for the entire Valley Center community to participate in and view quality theater. The board of directors for the new club is: Marc Wasserman, President; John Ward, Vice President; Chris Ryan, Vice President; Linda Chapp, Treasurer; and Toni Montros, Secretary. The club has more than 50 members, ranging from those who have experience producing extensive productions to those who have experience building sets or creating special effects. Of course, people with all sorts of talents are sought by this new organization. It doesn’t have regular meeting dates as yet. They meet as needed. However, members and other interested parties are encouraged to check out their Web site at www.vcct.org for meeting dates and times. There are no dues, although actors are required to pay $150 to participate in a show. The group plans to produce two musicals, two non-musicals during the year and eventually a monthly improvisation show. The group seeks corporate sponsors and other donations. Eventually it will do fund-raisers to help defray the costs of productions. VALLEY CENTER COMMUNITY THEATRE For all contact information visit www.vcct.org
