Miss Valley Center - Holly Hart
Holly Hart, a 17-year old senior, was chosen Miss Valley Center 2006 at a pageant held in March at the Maxine Theater. She is the daughter of Rick and Gail Hart. Her dad is a pharmacist while mom is a labor and delivery nurse.
For much of her young life, 4-H has been a major interest of Holly Hart. She has been involved with the organization for nine years. She has advanced all the way to the state level and was vice president of the southern section teen council of 4-H. Holly was also a state representative for the Southern section and has shown animals at the Del Mar Fair every year of her 4-H involvement.
A good student, Miss Hart really enjoys her English classes in school. She has been an English AP student for two years and a pre-AP for one. She’s not so good in math she says, but works hard in all of her classes. “Weights” is her favorite class.
After graduation Holly plans to spend her first two years at Cal State San Bernardino so that she can commute home and carry out her duties as Miss Valley Center. Then she wants to transfer to Cal State University Bakersfield to get a pre-law degree and then proceed to law school at, she hopes, Pepperdine University.
This is all leading to the goal of becoming a corporate attorney. “Corporate law has to do with business and I’ve always wanted to have something to do with business. I love the law because I love to argue,” she says.
Holly entered the Miss Valley Center pageant because she had dreamed of doing so since she was a little girl. “In my senior year I saw the application and I persuaded my best friend to apply also. The scholarship is nice and the chance to get to know yourself is amazing.” The pageant taught Holly how to handle herself in different situations. “You learn what you really feel about yourself and what characteristics you would like to instill in your children. So you think about yourself and what is important to you,” she says.
The most memorable moment of a month of memorable moments came during the dress rehearsal the night before the pageant, she says. “That’s when we all got our dresses. We all had a bonding night. We all were antsy and excited all at once,” she says.
Holly would definitely encourage other girls to try out for the pageant. “Not only does it build selfrespect, it shows you are confident in yourself and your abilities. It’s for women who want to pursue post secondary education. It builds your confidence and makes you a well-rounded person.”
