Pauma Valley Lions Club

(760)749-4305

For over 50 years the Pauma Valley Lions Club has served the local community, with its main preoccupation being the prevention of blindness and enhancing the ability to have sight, and support of the schools. It's easy to recognize the many members of this very active club who are very conspicuous in their generous activities in the community.

This year's officers are

  • President: Milo McGarrigle
  • Past-President: Earl Rutz
  • Vice President: Robert Smith
  • Treasurer: Richard Walworth
  • Secretary: Don Continelli

The Lions meet on the first and third Tuesday of each month, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Pala Casino.

The big cause of local Lions and Lions International is eye care. In that cause the local club spends thousands of dollars for glasses for the kids at Pauma School (and adults that have a need), for eye treatment and eye exams. It has also sent people to the Southern California Eye Institute in Los Angeles for surgery.

All of the money raised through efforts like White Cane Days goes back to the local community. Dues paid by members are used for administration so that all funds raised locally can be spent locally.

But the local Lions also put their backs into it during periodic clean-ups of a two mile stretch of Hwy 76. Recently they helped buy a bass drum for Valley Center High School's band program and contributed to Canine Companions for Independence and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

Right before Memorial Day they put on their main fund-raiser of the year, a rummage sale and farmers market. They emphasize support for the Pauma School, but frequently have a community breakfast, as well. One school program in particular is the alcohol-free Grad Night. Please consider joining and supporting this worthy group in their community efforts.
