Valley Center Ag Boosters, a non-profit organization, is committed to Youth in Agriculture. The club has meetings the first Monday of every month at 7:00pm in the Community Hall.
The Ag Boosters continue to raise money through fundraisers and a very successful corporate sponsorship program. One of the club's most successful fundraisers is the Make Your Own Omlet Breakfast held in April in conjunction with The California Egg Commission. In 1999 the founder of the Ag Boosters passed away. We found it very important to remember this gentleman by naming our scholarship in his memory: The Don Bartlett Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship has been awarded to 5 young people in the community who will continue their education in agriculture.
The Ag Boosters continue to promote the importance of agriculture in and around the county. Each March they sponsor National Day of Agriculture put on by the Valley Center Middle School Ag Department. Over 2000 students get to learn about agriculture and the importance it plays in everyday life. They also sponsor the San Diego County Bred 'n Fed class at the San Diego County (Del Mar) Fair. This class is for locally bred steers, encouraging the cattlemen to raise quality livestock.
The Ag Boosters are always looking for ways to imporove the 3 school farms. One way they found was to give 50% of the corporate sponsorship money to these facilities. The high school has a great greenhouse and the Martin Gang Agricultural Learning Center has a new show ring.
If you're interested in becoming part of The Ag Boosters, we have memberships for everyone. The Corporate Sponsorship program is $250. In return your business name will appear on official letterhead and banner hung at all events. Business membership is $75. Family membership is $25.
