San Diego County Al-Anon GroupsFor over 50 years, Al-Anon (which included Alateen for younger members) has been offering assistance to the families and friends of alcoholics. This program was developed because of the realization that alcoholism does not only affect the life of the person who is drinking but affects the lives of everyone around that person, as well. The San Diego County Al-Anon Information Of- fice is anxious to offer assistance to anyone who is affected by a friend or family member who is an alcoholic (whether that person is still drinking or not). Al-Anon’s recovery program is adopted from AA and is based on Twelve Steps, Twelve Traditions and Twelve Concepts of Service. Study of the Twelve Steps is considered essential to making progress in the Al-Anon program. The principles taught in the Twelve Step program are principles that can be adapted to any personal creed or religion. To get information, including Al-Anon approved literature, stop by the San Diego of- fice Monday- Friday, between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. or call during business hours. Al-Anon is a worldwide organization with over 24,000 groups meeting in 115 countries. Meetings are held in Ramona on Wednesdays.
