Ramona Outdoor Community Center

The Ramona Outdoor Community Center, home to the Fred Grand Arena, is located on Aqua Lane just past the Community Center. The Outdoor Community Center is a beautiful spot to host large events with plenty of outdoor space available including the newly roofed 9,000 square foot pavilion.

In addition to the pavilion, the Outdoor Community Center’s amenities include a full kitchen, an Olympicsize equestrian arena, a 2 story fully equipped announcer and secretary tower, 3 self-contained food booths and lovely grounds dotted with large shade trees creating a great area for picnics and entertainment. With the assistance of Supervisor Dianne Jacob, the area has recently received more than 4,000 new aluminum stadium seats.

As a part of the Ramona Parks & Recreation Association, Ramona Outdoor Community Center hosts many of Ramona’s major events, such as the Ramona Rodeo, the Ramona Fair, the Rodeo Queen competition and a number of high profile equestrian events.

In addition, Ramona Outdoor Community Center sponsors two events of its own: the annual Ramona High School Reunion, held the third Sunday of September, at the Pavilion, and the annual golf tournament held in October in Warner Springs. That event raises money to help defray the ROCC’s operating expenses, the biggest portion of which is the cost of liability insurance for the Center. Rental fees charged for the use of the facilities pays for upkeep of the grounds and horse facilities. There is no paid staff.

ROCC was established in the early 1970s. It is a non-profit organization with a 501 (c) 3 tax status. Its board of directors includes president, Artie Thomsen; vice president, Eric Guenther; Karen Robinson, secretary; Joani Georgeson, treasurer; Dennis Robinson, director; Art Thomsen, grounds chairman; Angel Yanez, grounds; Cheryl Schulz, calendar; Darrell Beck, director. The Board is elected by the 80+ members of the ROCC, who are a hard-working group of volunteers.

Anyone can belong to the ROCC, as long as they are a resident of the water district. Dues are $10.
