Ramona LeTip
The main purpose of Ramona LeTip, according to its president, Steve Sellin, is "to put money in your pocket."
The group, which was organized in Ramona 20 years ago, meets every Thursday, from 7 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Sizzler restaurant. Members get together in a friendly but structured setting for the exchange of referrals, which members call "tips."
Members and guests get up and speak about their business and are allowed to display and explain what services they offer and exchange business leads. For instance, one member might tell another member, who is in the insurance business, "You need to talk to John Smith, because he needs some insurance." It’s like having a whole network of people working for you.
No conflicts of interest are allowed. Once a member is admitted, his or her competition isn’t allowed to join.
A survey done a few years ago reported that LeTip members average more than $1336 per month as a result of their LeTip memberships.
Officers, besides Sellin, are John Dunlap, vice president; Sandy Gillespie, tip master and George Romero, treasurer.
According to Sellin, "We are committed to the highest ethical standards in the conduct of our business." Members commit to using fairness, loyalty and integrity in their relationship to their employees, customers and shareholders. They also pledge to work to actively improve their communities and society.
In addition to the weekly meetings, the group also holds quarterly socials and an annual Christmas party.
