A project sponsored by Kiwanis International that the local club participates in is the drive to eliminate Iodine Deficiency Disorder (IDD) in all Third World countries.
Once a month the club recognizes a student and a church student. The students are guests of the club along with the teacher and the principal. The student is awarded a plaque. The club also awards several scholarships to high school graduates.
To further involve the youth, the Kiwanis sponsors the KEY (Kiwanis Educating Youth) and the Hugh O'Brian Youth (HOBY) organization once a year.
Other projects the club takes part in includes the Wall Tapestry to raise money for the Ramona Food & Clothes Closet, the Children's Hospital Mile of Quarters, and Brother Benno's Southern California Kiwanis used sock drive in the spring.
The club also takes part in Senior Appreciation Day at the senior center. The members serve the volunteers who normally serve the seniors. They also cook the pancakes for the 24 Hour Relay in the spring that raises money for the high school's educational foundation.
It also helps spread cheer during the Easter and Christmas holidays through the Share Your Holidays food and gift delivery. The whole community brings by food and gifts to the high school gym. The items are sorted and then given to needy families in the area.
