Arts, Unlimited

Since 1968 Arts, Unlimited has been promoting the arts and helping to develop a love for the arts in the children of Ramona. Arts, Unlimited and its 200 member families does this by offering enrichment classes by qualified individuals. They charge for their classes, but Arts, Unlimited provides scholarships. These classes include dance and tubmling, karate, and brass instruments.

Most classes are offered at 101 8th St. Arts, Unlimited also raises money for scholarships for high school graduates who are continuing their study in the arts. They try to give at least three scholarships each year.

This year's officers are: President Rick Adair; Vice President Linette Preez; Secretary Jill Smith; Treasurer Jill Bacorn; Historian Corrine Gilbreth; and, Newletter Editor Sandy Faaborg.

Arts, Unlimited meets on the second Monday of the month, 7pm at the studio (101 8th St.). The public is invited.

In addition to the above-mentioned activities, the club also produces the Miss Ramona pageant each February In May it puts on a spaghetti dinner/talent show. The club prepares pasta and charges a fee for people to come and eat while the kids provide the talent. "It's old fashioned fun," says Jill Bacorn.

During the Ramona Fair, volunteers from the club man a booth and sell sno-cones.

In the summer, Arts, Unlimited--in partnership with Palomar College--coordinates a three week dance workshop. Instructors come from San Diego Dance Theater. At the end of the three weeks, the students put on a show.

The organization also puts on recitals at the end of the school year, which affods students the opportunity to share what they have learned with family and friends.

Other programs sponsored by Arts, Unlimited include Musical Theater classes for elementary age children, and year-round fitness classes.

The programs that the club offers might well be called Age, Unlimited, since, according to Mrs. Bacorn, "We take kids as young as two and as old as 92."

You can contact Arts, Unlimited at 760-788-0914, or: PO Box 617, Ramona, CA 92065.
