Ramona Ag Boosters
Ramona Ag Boosters have been supporting students in FFA and 4-H clubs since the 1950s. According to Ag Boosters President Pat Donovan, the Boosters do fundraisers to help cover the expenses of students taking livestock projects to the Del Mar Fair and to FFA students competing all over the state. Ag Boosters also helps with expenses and improvements around the high school farm.
"We've got a group of people who have been doing this for a long time. For me it's just fun, working with people that are interested with kids at school," says Donovan.
What they all have in common is their interest in the students. "Most of the folks in the Boosters are parents of current students, but some have kids who've graduated who plan to continue it. We all want to see the program stay alive and prosper," says Donovan.
Current membership is about 60 strong.
This year's officers are: President Pat Donovan; Vice President Bill Mansir; Treasurer David Shanahan; and, Secretary Patty Dvorak.
The Boosters meet the first Tuesday of the month, 7pm at The Sizzler. Dues are $25 for families and $10 for individuals.
To raise funds, the club operates a hamburger stand at the July 4 fireworks, and sells Christmas trees during the holidays.
This year some of the money raised will fund three scholarships of $700 each.
