Borrego Springs Art Guild
The purpose of the Borrego Springs Art Guild is the enjoyment of art and the promotion of the arts. It has been carrying out this mission since 1972. Very few of the members are actually artists. Of the probably 50-60 members, about ten paint and a few do crafts. But all are dedicated to promoting the arts through art shows and demonstrations.
Each meeting usually includes a guest speaker and a demonstration by a professional artist. There are also occasional workshops. Dues are $20 annually and are mainly used for scholarships for students who have an artist in pursuing art as well as for art supplies for volunteer art teachers at the primary schools.
The club meets once a month, from November-May, on the third Thursday, 1 p.m. at Crosswinds Restaurant. Lunch is followed by the meeting and the demonstration.
Art shows are held at the Center of the Center and are open to guild members as well as artists from throughout the region.
This year's officers and board include President Martha Mitchell, Vice President Jeanette Baker, Secretary Dorothy Pinson; publicity, Joan Hoffman; program chairman Ron Egeland.
